I’ve always loved creating with my hands. My first clay creation was an ash tray at the age of four, because isn’t that what we all made (even when our parents didn’t smoke)?! Then my clay career took a 35 year hiatus. And I mean I had other projects of course, mudpies and treehouses, graduate school and real houses, it’s all a bit of a blur now. But happenstance brought clay back to me or rather me back to clay.

In 2020, I uprooted my whole life and moved back to my hometown. There were quite a few other things happening in the world too. And I was more than a little lost. So it was then, in the height of all this chaos, that I was so grateful to find my way to the local clay studio. It had only just reopened at the end of that summer, and while the world was still shuttered, the studio’s doors had opened just a crack. I spent every moment there that I could (which ended up being quite a few moments).

I like to create with very little intention in mind and see where the process of failure (and failure, and failure…) and a bit of luck takes me. Art and life are about progress not perfection. And a little laughter and mischief will take you a long way.

Winsome and puckish pretty much says it all. I don’t take myself too seriously. I find immense joy in the process of creating and I delight in sharing beauty and love with others. Made by hand in Richmond, VA.
